Minutes from the hustle of the city and crowded beaches of Waikiki is a tranquil area where few tourist or locals venture. Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens is located in the Kaneohe District of Oahu on the east side of the island. With many ways to access this area, the Pali Hwy offers you the most dynamic views as you decend from the Koʻolau Mountains. If you have time, a stop at Pali Lookout will give you fantastic views of the area you will never forget. Once at the gardens you can enjoy greenery from around the tropical world. Plants are layed out according to the geographic region from which they orginated. A map and helpful information can be found at the information center. Vistors can also access picnic sites, camping areas, and meeting rooms within the park. The area was established by the Army Corps of Engineers as a flood protection area for the surrounding community but thankfully it's primary use these days is as a wonderful retreat to nature. Open every day except Christmas and New Year's
I recommend you come and experience this tropical paradise. For more infomation, please visit the state homepage. Mahalo
